I definitely don't think you'll regret finishing as soon as you can.

Re: The modern college student

Good to hear — because I intend on getting out ASAP and everyone tells me I'll regret it, which obviously makes me doubt myself. After all, I don't want to be that girl who looks back on college and wonders if I didn't make the most of it. But honestly, I don't think I will. I love working more than going to school way more anyway!

Re: The modern college student

I felt the same way when I was in school. I graduated a year early because I so done with school and ready to get to work. I went to the university of texas where doing a "victory lap"( 5th year) was very popular so everyone thought I was nuts. I have never regretted it for a second.

Re: The modern college student

I agree. I think that academia is way less fulfilling to me than work, be it at an actual job, in personal endeavours or in school extracurrics. My friend Sabrina once told me that she feels a sort of alienation in being a student because she'll slave away for weeks on a paper (she was an English major) only for a TA and/or the prof to look at it. It's like all her hard work is for nothing, because only one or two people see it, and really, what does a number on a paper do?

I'm in my final year now, and I can't wait to graduate!

Re: The modern college student

All the value in a college education is just being able to say you got one -- I think, if you're sure that this social media thing is the way to go for you, then you've made the right choice.

Oh, and when you're rich and famous can I have some of your money? I was your friend before it all happened!

Re: The modern college student

Hey Theresa,

I am one of those that shot you one a "fan" mail, but I couldn't help but comment on this post. I went through the exact same phase in college (still in that phase, actually). It's a lot more fun to think about entrepreneurial endeavors and going back to studying for school kind of sucks.

But what I've realized in my final year of college is that these do not necessarily need to be mutually exclusive. At least for engineers at UCLA, we get a little bit of leeway to structure our schedule to take advantage of our business classes, I think that would be really interesting for you (from what very little I have deduced).

Cheers! Keep up the good fight,
Charles
